06 September 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

It’s been fantastic today to visit all the children in their classrooms and to see them so excited to be back in school. For our new children, I’ve enjoyed seeing how quickly they’ve looked at home - those initial feelings of apprehension replaced with smiles and a sense of belonging. Thank you to all our parents and carers for preparing your children so well to take that bold step of independence into their new classes. With all the older children well equipped with pencil cases this year, their attitude to learning seems even more impressive! And they all look really smart in their uniforms too!

As the term gets underway, I’m really excited to be able to share with you all the
final report from the church school inspection that took place just before the summer break at the junior school. The overall judgement was that Holy Trinity is an excellent school! Do take a look – it’s a great summary of the impact of our school values being lived out. I’m so delighted that our ethos made such an impact on the inspector. She states that our vision results in “an inclusive and joyful school where pupils and adults thrive as they together develop their God-given potential”. I love too how much the report celebrates our team philosophy, with governors, parents, staff and children all working together to ensure that we “Learn to Live”.

Over the next fortnight, we’ll be holding our “Meet the Team” evenings (Thursday 12th September at 7pm in the Chapel for those in Year 3 to Year 6, and Wednesday 18th September at 7pm at Pewley for those in Year R to Year 2). Please do try to be there – you’ll hear all about the year ahead, find out how best you can support your child, and meet your child’s class teacher. This strengthens our home-school partnership, helping your child to feel settled and reassured because you’ll know more about how things work.

Finally, can I remind everyone that, as a healthy school, we request that children only bring in snacks of fruit or vegetables. This keeps litter to a minimum, and is also the healthiest option. Remember that we’re a nut-free school…including in packed lunches. This helps keep those children with severe allergies safe. We are working hard this year to consider our impact on the environment, so I’ll also encourage you to use refillable water bottles rather than single-use plastic ones. With the eco-teams being chosen across both sites in the coming days, I’m sure they’ll have other reminders that they’ll want me to include in future weeks. So watch this space!

With best wishes, Clare
